Catherine
McKenny: Ibiwisi Alpacas
Ibiwisi Alpacas was created in 2001 when Catherine
relocated to Vermont from Hoboken, NJ with the intention
of establishing a serene alpaca farm amidst the beauty
of the green mountains. Nestled on a hillside overlooking
the Connecticut River Valley, you will find a tidy farm
with two red-roofed barns that house many well-loved
and shamelessly spoiled alpacas. These alpacas have
exceptionally soft, fine fiber which spins into luxurious
yarns of a light weight and an inviting warmth.
As the years have passed, Catherine continues to gain knowledge of the
wonderful garments and accessories that can be created from alpaca
fiber. Incorporating the use of natural dye extracts into her product
has allowed her to develop deep and vibrant colors that complement the
varied natural shades of alpaca fiber. Hat and scarf knitting kits are
her specialty, and she has recently begun to explore the world of
felted garments.
Ibiwisi Alpacas specializes in quality alpacas of color, and has a diverse
selection of herdsires which drives its breeding program.
Catherine focuses on breeding for fine, consistent fleeces
and exemplary conformation. Her herd management philosophy
is centered on providing excellent alpaca husbandry
and developing agreeable attitudes and personalities
in her four-legged crew. |
