I
am a full time blacksmith, and with my wife Jenny,
have operated a small forge in Vermont since 1975.
In 1999, we moved from Putney, to a larger studio
in Saxtons River, Vermont where we are dedicated to
producing hand wrought iron work of the highest quality.
Our hand forged items are designed to be attractive
and delicate in concept yet practical in function.
Each piece is heated and forged individually with
traditional hammer and tongs, and every one is unique
with no two exactly alike.
We make classic period accessories for restoration
projects, as well as items which are purely functional,
and crafted with a distinctive signature style. Our
collection of decorative and functional items include
lighting, bathroom and kitchen accessories, fireplace
and stove tools and door hardware. As you will see
from our catalog web pages at www.ianeddyblacksmith.com
we have an extensive selection of pieces we make as
production items. In addition we are always happy
to consider your custom project to fit your individual
needs.
Works from our forge can be found in shops and galleries
throughout the United States as well as many commissioned
works installed in private homes. We are continually
challenged to strive for refinement in our designs
and in the creation of new ones.
Please come and visit our forge studio during the Putney
Craft Tour, where we are delighted to demonstrate how
we make our pieces. Of course you are welcome to visit
at any time, but it is wise to call or e-mail
us ahead to be sure we will not be out of town. We love
the work and hope that if you purchase an item from us
that you will enjoy the results for many years to come.
