Having installed commercial tile for more than thirty years in a third-generation business, eighteen years ago we became involved in the artistic process of making unique tiles to offer our clients. Beginning with raw clay, we experimented with different clay bodies, glazes, designs, and firings. The process has evolved to include an extensive variety of plaster-of-paris molds which allow us to duplicate designs, as well as detailed hand painting and airbrushing. We use two of our four kilns to test new glazes in order to refine texture and color. We are able to customize tiles according to our clients' designs, and work with customers to develop designs for installation of backsplashes, showers, bathtub surrounds, and fireplaces; customers' ideas range from wildflower borders to hummingbird scenes to medieval themes. Tiles can vary in size from as small as one inch squares to as large as twenty inches square. Our tiles have also been shaped to become functional as toothbrush holders or soap dishes.
