Julia
Brandis
Julia Brandis received her B.F.A. at Virginia Commonwealth
University in 1994. Here she studied painting, sculpture,
metal working, jewelry making and glass sculpture.
Through the use of texture, wire work, jewels and
free flowing exterior forms, Julia strives to create
depth to a medium often referred to as flat glass. She
looks to the beauty found in natural lines and forms
and translates them into her glassworks. Carefully chosen
glass shows the movement of the sky or the iridescence
in a pool of water. Autumnal ripples and pale gold antiques
reflect the calmness of the mountains as the leaves
change colors. |
