Functional and Sculptural Pottery
Working in an old tobacco barn surrounded by ceramic sculptures, flower gardens and fields, I have been making high-fired , colorful, stoneware pottery for over 45 years.Walking into the studio gallery, you would be struck by the dynamic forms and exciting bold glaze colors that contrast with the earthiness of the unglazed clay. Whether wheel thrown or hand built, my pottery draws on my experience of energy flow, abstract form and historical precedent. Award winning massive wall platters and one-of-a-kind art pieces are on display, as well as many functional pots including teapots, casseroles, serving bowls, vases and lamps meant to be used in our daily lives or simply to delight the eye. I make ceramic furniture for the indoors or outdoors: tables, benches, stools and birdbaths. Wall sculptures can also be commissioned for the home or a public space. I welcome people to call ahead during the year to visit the studio showroom.
