After being injured and losing my job, I have wanted to bring more awareness to those of us with invisible disabilities. Since my injury, I have had four cervical-spine surgeries, and after healing as much as I could physically, I realized that there were a lot of emotional pieces to deal with, as well. I lost my job due to my inability to work, and here I was- stuck at home, mostly sedentary and aggravated at the whole situation. I picked up my camera and started taking pictures; of anything and everything. The more I used it, the more I liked it.
I started volunteering at The Brattleboro Museum & Art Center, and that lead me to a whole new group of friends, who encouraged and supported me. I spent a lot of time (grooming and taking photos) at a mule and donkey rescue in NH, which was a big part of my healing. A portion of my sales goes to this rescue, as a way of paying it forward to a place that helped me thru so many of my issues. I also hope to bring about more awareness of two "invisible" issues: physical disabilities that aren't in plain sight, and the emotional disabilities that are battles for many of us every day.
