Working in an old tobacco barn, surrounded by ceramic
sculptures, flower gardens and fields, I have been making high-fired,
colorful, stoneware pottery for over 30 years.
If you were to walk into the studio gallery, you would be
struck by the dynamic forms and exciting bold glaze colors that
contrast with the earthiness of the unglazed clay. As one visitor
put it: "His art seems to tap the reservoir of collective memory in
a modern rendering of some archeological fireworks frozen in the clay
and glazes." Whether wheel thrown or hand built, my pottery draws on
my experience of energy flow, abstract form, archetypal image, and
historical precedent.
Award winning massive wall platters and one-of-kind
art pieces are to be found, as well as many functional
pots. These include lusciously glazed vases, teapots
, casseroles, serving bowls, candle holders and lamps
meant to be used in our daily lives or simply to delight
the eye. |
