I'm drawn to the craft of woodcut
printmaking because it's an interesting process
involving a series of quite different stages: beginning
with concept and design, through sketching and carving,
to the final printing. I like the tactile quality
of the form and the energy transmitted from the
heart and han d through gouges and knives to wood,
and then, with the application of ink, to paper.
Because my roots are deep in New England soil, local
flora and fauna, the architecture of buildings and
trees or a snowy landscape present me with inspiration
on all sides for subject matter. My woodcut prints
are available printed from the carved block onto
rice paper or reduced and printed as notecards,
calendar or book.
