Putneycrafts.com is an enticing preview of the 2007 Putney
Craft Tour, Friday, Saturday & Sunday, November 23rd to
25th, Thanksgiving Weekend. Meet 27 of Vermont's most
prominent artists and artisans. You'll find photos of
an exceptional array of art and craft including blacksmithing,
bookbinding, quilting, furniture making, glass-blowing,
jewelry, metal artistry, photography, polymer art, pottery,
sculpture and sculptured tiles, stained glass, weaving,
wood turning, woodworking, and yarn spinning. Each artist's
page includes their biography and contact information.
Putney is conveniently located at Exit 4, I 91 in
southeastern Vermont two hours from Boston, Hartford
and Albany, and within 4 hours of New York City. Tour
maps are available on this website and at each well-marked
studio during the tour. The simple pleasure of meandering
the back roads of southeastern Vermont in search of
art and craft at your own pace is a gift in itself.
"Perhaps the most important aspect of the tour is the
opportunity to experience the uniqueness of the number
and variety of craftspeople in a small rural environment,"
notes founding tour member and blacksmith, Ian Eddy.
Tour visitors can meet the artists and catch a glimpse
of their creative process where they work. Distinguished
for its depth and diversity of craft, the tour also
is known for its warm hospitality.
