Excavating layers of human earth connection, I paint landscapes from the inside out and make pottery reflecting the body as a vessel. Deeply inspired by the Vermont landscape, both my paintings and pottery align with the idea of networked relationships and living systems as expressed through simplified forms, a play of color, and expanded space.

Painting

Emphasizing the reciprocal nature of the internal and external, the micro and macro, I work with oils on canvas, gouache on paper, and have recently been experimenting with handmade milk paints on birch panel.

Observing conduits of energy from above and below, I converse with trees because I want to think like a forest. I imagine what it is like to be a root hair, a strand of mycorrhiza, or a neuron in the human brain entangled in conversation about the unifying life force within all things.

Here, the dynamic relationship of space, color, light, and shadow draws me into the potency of what lies unknown, inside us all.

Pottery

SPECTRUM is a new line of pottery that embodies the beauty of simplicity while celebrating a spectrum of color and experience.

Each  wheel thrown form is hand painted with a glossy white exterior and a matte interior ranging in pinks, greens, turquoise blue, yellow and violet. I make tumblers, mugs, bowls, and plates as well as dream jars and figurative vases.

EARTHENFLUX brings a feel of the outdoors in with hand-pressed botanical designs and iron oxide stains on wheel thrown porcelain pieces.
